Decrepitation can be quite intense. The Bou Jaber mine (Tunisia) sample formed at low temperatures, near 100 C whereas the Roseval sample from Timmins, Ontario, is associated with a massive quartz blow, mined for silica. The decrepitation does not reflect the expected temperature difference between these two occurrences.
